We are proud to announce that Mexichem Specialty Compounds Inc. (MSC) has received NSF International certification for its Polvinyl Chloride (PVC) for Food Zone 1100 Series and 6100-75 compounds made at its US production facilities in Leominster, MA and Pineville, NC.
The compounds conform to the requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 51–Food Equipment Materials with a maximum use temperature of 212 °F for the following types of food: alcohol less than or equal to 8%; aqueous acidic; aqueous non-acidic; dairy, oil in water emulsions; and dry solids.
MSC’s 6100-75 (Natural color PVC) has a specific gravity of 1.43 and a durometer of 83. The PVC 1100 series includes high-clarity, easy-processing compounds used in tubing for medical applications and for food-contact applications, such as beverage tubing.
The compounds can also be used in profile extrusions and some molding compounds. MSC’s 1100 70 compound (durometer of 70) had already been listed under NSF-51. With the recent certification, the remaining compounds in the 1100 series, with durometers from 75 to 90, are also listed under NSF-51. In addition to being NSF certified, the 1100 series and 6100-75 compounds are made using FDA-sanctioned ingredients.
“Having additional products listed under NSF Standard 51 gives our customers a broader range of compounds to meet their needs for food-contact applications,” says Daniel DeLisle, general manager of Mexichem Specialty Compounds Inc “The NSF certification provides third-party assurance that our products meet applicable quality and safety standards.”
“Congratulations to the Pineville and Leominster sites for their attention to the detail needed to obtain these certifications,” says Daniel DeLisle.
